Oil Spill at Gulf of Mexico.
Hello! Current Event club keeps writing fabulous articles.And it makes us happy to see other people and countries reading it.This time, I am going to talk about an oil spill that currently happened at the Gulf of Mexico.Enjoy!:)
What is it?
On Saturday,Houston Ship Channel sent a ship that had 900,000 gallons of oil out to the Gulf of Mexico.Then,about 168,000 gallons of oil spilled out all over the Gulf of Mexico.
What is the circumstance?
Somehow,the ships cargo has opened and the oil spilled out of the cargo.
Where is the location?
There are two locations in this event.Since the ship sailed from Texas,the first location would be Texas.The second location is where the event happened,Gulf of Mexico.
What is the impact?
The impact was pretty big.Since the oil spilled out all over,this impacts sea organisms.There is also another impact.You see,About 50,000-70,000 birds live near the Gulf of Mexico,and they have found 10 birds that have been oiled.The last impact was that water vessels couldn't go.It was reported that 60 vessels were held back.
What are examples of this before?
There were oil spills before in history. For example, the Ixtoc 1 that happened also in Gulf of Mexico that was between 1979-1980 connects.Also,the Nawruz Field Platform oil spill that happened at the Persian Gulf in 1983 connects.
How could it impact the future?
Rice Experts say that this event could impact the Galveston Bay Fishing Industry. Since water is oiled,fishermen would not be able to fish at Gulf of Mexico.Another impact would be that ships now would have to go different ways and that might be bad for the crew.The last impact that this could possibly have is that organisms over there might get oiled.

Ismail: How could this natural conflict impact the Earth?
My dad: Even though the incident happened locally, eventually, the impact of the oil spill will be global by causing environmental pollution. this could affect not only animal's and nature life but also people's daily life.
Ismail: Do you all of this oil would be cleaned up? Why or why not?
My dad: Most of the oil will be cleaned up because we have advanced cleaning technology now.
Ismail: Do you think more organisims would get hurt?
My dad: Yes. Since the area around Gulf of Mexico has been polluted, sure more organisims could get more hurt in the future.
Ismail: Do you think that the ship crew was careful or not careful?Why or why not?
My dad:The ship crew must be careful, because they are carrying oil, which is very dangerous when it is leaked to the nature (sea, land, etc.).This could not only affect the enviornment, but also human being's daily life.

What is life?
You might feel a little silly asking yourself this question,but what is life?We all know what the word life means,but how to we define it?Do all living things move? .It's almost as hard to describe where we came from. Even biologist have a hard time describing life,but many years of studying a variety of bacteria and animals they found some things they all have in common.
1) All living things are highly organized and contain many complex chemical substances.
2) All living things contain one or more cells.
UNICELLULAR- contains just one cell
MULTICELLULAR- contains many cells
3) All living things use energy.
4) Living things have a definite form and have a limited size.
5) Living things grow.
6) Living things respond to changes in the environment.
7) Living things can reproduce.
8) Living things eventually die.
Life on other planets
A new paper published in Planetary and Space Science claims cold rocky planets previously considered uninhabitable may actually be able to support life beneath the surface.Read more at: http://phys.org/news/2014-01-life-planets-widespread.html#jCp. Now we know life could be on other plantes are there an that are like this? The answer is yes. One of Jupiter's moons Europa has an ice filled surface that could, but very unlikely to support life.

Trouble in Ukraine.
Welcome back folks. This time I researched about a current event that is pretty new. Enjoy reading this article about the new current event.
What is it?
What is it?
This is a conflict that is between Russia and Crimea,Ukraine.When Ukraine's president,Victor Yanukcuveyh rejected a trade agreement that was given to him by the Europian Union, citizens of Ukraine started to protests that they will be in trouble and had deadly conflicts with the Ukraine police. Russia has sent troops down to Crimea and they started to invade Crimea.
What is the circumstance?
This conflict started when Ukraine 's president,Victor Yanukcuveyh rejected a trade agreement that was given to him by the European Union.Also another reason is when citizens of Ukraine had deadly clashes with the Ukrainian police.
What are people doing?
People of Ukraine have decided to protest because they thought that the president was doing a wrong thing by not signing the trading agreement.The citizens has had deadly clashes with the police which caused a lot of deaths and injuries for the protesters.
What is it connected to?
This conflict connects back to history.You see,when Crimea,Ukraine was under Ottaman Empires protection and rule, the Russians came and invaded it with no right.And today,Russia is doing what their anchestors were doing,invading Crimea again.
What are the points of view?
There are actually many points of view that I thought was interesting.In fact,the most interesting point of view came from Russia. Russian government says that they did not invade Ukraine.Some people totally disagree like I do. People say that Russia sent down troops to Crimea and was checking every detail even though it is not their country. I think that Russia has no right to send down troops to Crimea no matter what it did.Your opinion might be diffrent but really I think this is the truth.
How is it changing?
Since this is a new current event, nothing has really changed. But now Russian troops are more relaxed and they act like its their fathers place. Can you believe that!?
What is our responsibility?
First of all, in this conflict there aren't many donations needed. But an important thing is that we should be role-models and I think we should not always follow our ancestors` moves.

My dad:Russia has no right to intervene Ukraine.Russia almost must recognize Ukraine 's unification as a country.
Ismail:If you were in Ukraine,how would you feel?
My dad:I would feel patriotic
Ismail:Could this conflict affect both countries?Why or why not?
My dad:Yes it could because Russia might face some difficulties with it's international relations.Ukraine on the other hand might need more international help from the West.
Ismail:Do you think that this conflict would be long or short?
My dad:If the international community convinces Russia not to intervene Ukraine's politics,the conflict will end shortly.

Keeping Our Schools Healthy
Are you tyring to keep your child healthy and fit,well the white house and The Department Of Agriculture is helping you and your child's school.
The cause is that we kids,teens,and even adults are letting each other eat and drink bad food and drinks. The White House and The U.S Department Of Agriculture are stepping in and helping us kids and teens to keep fit and healthy.
Well they are going to help 22,000 schools have free meals lunches and breakfast. They are trying to in courage the schools to tell the students to exercise and eat right. They are also trying to in courage the community and parents to tell their children and family members about this.
My responsibility is too keep my body healthy and stay fit. I shouldn't be having somebody helping me I should be healthy and know what to do. I can also sprend the news to my friends,family,and neighbors so they can help out too.
Form-What is it Like?
